Since the collapse of the central Government of Somalia, the nation has grappled with an array of daunting challenges that have hindered its development across multiple sectors. These challenges, stemming from civil strife, institutional breakdowns, mass migrations, and recurrent droughts, have consistently thwarted progress in areas vital to development, humanitarian aid, environmental management, and disaster response. The protracted civil wars and political instability have drained resources and attention away from essential development endeavors, exacerbating the plight of vulnerable communities. Scarce resources are often diverted to addressing immediate security concerns and mitigating the impacts of conflict, leaving little room for long-term sustainable development initiatives. Among the most pressing challenges faced by communities in Somalia are recurrent emergencies, notably droughts and seasonal floods, which threaten lives and livelihoods and perpetuate cycles of poverty and vulnerability. These emergencies demand swift and coordinated responses to provide relief and support to affected populations. In response to these ongoing crises, RAISE has strategically structured its programs to address emergent needs as they arise, collaborating closely with international donors, diaspora groups, and local partners. By leveraging a network of support and mobilizing resources, RAISE has been able to mount effective responses to emergencies, mitigating the devastating impacts on communities andfacilitating their recovery processes. Key components of RAISE’s emergency response efforts include rapid deployment of assistance, coordination with stakeholders, capacity building and preparedness, and advocacy and resource mobilization. Through these concerted efforts, RAISE emergency projects have been instrumental in mitigating the immediate impacts of emergencies and supporting communities in their recovery processes
