In working on Preventing/Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE) projects in Somalia, RAISE NGO primarily focuses on several key areas. First and foremost, RAISE engages with local communities to raise awareness about the drivers and consequences of violent extremism. This involves conducting community dialogues, workshops, and awareness campaigns to promote understanding and resilience against extremist ideologies. Additionally, RAISE implements programs aimed at empowering youth with critical thinking skills, leadership abilities, and opportunities for positive engagement. This includes vocational training, educational scholarships, sports activities, and entrepreneurship initiatives to provide alternatives to extremist narratives and recruitment. Moreover, RAISE works to strengthen the capacity of local stakeholders, including community leaders, educators, religious leaders, and civil society organizations, to identify and address the root causes of violent extremism. This involves training on conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and promoting social cohesion. Additionally, RAISE promotes inclusive governance structures and social cohesion initiatives that address grievances and marginalization within communities. Through collaboration with government agencies, international organizations, local authorities, and other NGOs, RAISE leverages resources, shares best practices, and coordinates efforts for maximum impact in addressing violent extremism in Somalia.
